In this single sheet artist book, I lay out the scenario of a character dying who gets saved by another character opening the blinds to the room and letting the sunlight in. I created this book in a familiar form while studying with Esther Smith at Cooper Union, long before my terminal diagnosis. However, the narrative still feels true to me upon waking in the morning to my alarm. True and even more important.
The book itself, as I said, is one sheet of color copy, cleverly folded to create a secret space in the middle. I cut a window into one of the front panels, so that readers could catch a glimpse at the redeeming subject matter before they arrived at those pages, a glimpse of hope.
