Aerobraking

Filmed in Staten Island, Eastern New Jersey, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and the virtual world of Second Life, this video broadside contemplates the eventual human habitation of Mars.

Aerobraking

Skimming invisible friction at the ceiling of what
to close an ellipse?

The craft went round again but not as far or fast
and around until it found some clarity on the subject:

thermokarst, hummock, memory of pin oak leaves in bunches, rocks.
Lots of rocks.

The craters which for so long were just seedbeds
suddenly became mines
of tales, thick on the tongue and plausible.

I was there. We were there
with national parks, and company, and Inc., and wishing
more would rise out of a dead flower bed.

How would we do it there?
(This was the only imagination that mattered.)

How would I take you up on Grissom Hill to drink wine
and stare off at the changing desert and remember the dead
voyager burned on the launch pad

between our first love, and the other ones, and the next?

Blue planet, read.
